Sorry ah A-A, no ar, get a 600N is better and cheaper ah.
I have bad experience with 166.

The grind coffee drop into the grinding chamber area causes problem - it needs cleaning or dead soon,
anyway, you may like it with better look than 600N. Also fragile built, cheap parts are being used. I broke the cheap parts by careless when I clean the coffee inside the chamber part. Anyway, you love it is the most important thing.
Sorry, please forgive my word may make you unhappy with it.
A modification of 166, if you need (anyway need to clean it - may be watch it to learn how to open and clean)

I bought Solis 166 in HK from www.coffeeclub.com.hk for about a year and had no problem with it.
Actually, I like it much more than two hand grinders I owned, ie much less sediment with finer and more consistent grind that delivers a very flavorful cup with very little sludge at the bottom. This will only apply to drip and french press as I don't do espresso based drink for now! I think it will do OK with all the filtered copy. I grind "Minute Rice" from time to time to clean the oil and those stuff out so I don't have to risk taking the machine apart. Also, I used it only twice or three times a week, mostly weekend when I have time for a decent cup of coffee.
Mark Prince of Coffeegeek.com used to recommend this grinder a long while back (I think in early 2000). Later, he seemed to drop it for Solis 167 as it has more setting (40 steps vs. 10 steps for Solis 166). Also, Baratza, Solis' agent at the time, sponsored the website while Starbucks, which sold Solis 166, did not or stopped sponsoring it. Nevertheless, I kinda agree with him as sometimes, I yearn for more step in between.
I actually wonder how 600N performs with french press as I read somewhere that some grinder may be excellent for fine grind but may not do well with very coarse grind that french press required. |

I think the one in the picture could be an OEM for Baratza which was supposed to be better than Solis (DC Motor - low RPM and less heat than its predecessor, and some anti static protection).
For A-A, congrat! |
