Coffee from Thailand for tasting/cupping

In the spirit of what Cheesecake did over the past two weeks, the cupping/tasting will be held on this Saturday at the same time, ie 16:00, at Fresh. Thanks Landy and Shing for making this gathering possible.

I was in Bangkok over the weekend and brought a green bean from Northern Thailand back with me.

Some detail of the bean:

- Arabica single origin from the old farm dated 20-30 years ago
- Double washed process
- High altitude, very strict husbandry.
- The bean is very dense and big. It gives a round cup and sweet acidity.
- The coffee received 81 points from Mr Mane Alves, a world renown coffee cupper and executive board member of the Roasters Guild of America (Anybody heard anything about this guy before?)

The quoted price on the dalla corte is US$2300 now.
Much cheaper than the older one which is an impossible price US$1200.

Bangkokespressolab.com proprietor names this bean, El Visito. Some tasting note and roast profile from him which may help (or not?) us on this Saturday tasting

French press or drip:
Roast Profile: full city
Tasting note:
1. reminiscent of pea right after grinding
2. Ripen fruit, distinct acidity, finish with spicy note

Espresso:
Roast profile: medium of the continuum, not too light or dark (not sure what he meant)
Tasting note: - quite confusing to me here
1. This coffee doesn't like ristretto pull. It's very sour and salty
2. Bitter at the first sip follow by acidity and sweet with some caramel/chocolate note and long finish (?)

See how they processed this coffee which came from Chiangmai, Thailand at the height of 1,100 meter.

lately, i tasted salty flavor when some beans have berry flavor, taste great when i imagine the berry.

from beans, i hope i can roast the original taste of that beans, if fail, everybody buy 100g kona. ^^
