IMHO, bottomless observation is only a tool to evaluate your dosing and tamping technique - it's easy to have a good cone shape but the coffee taste bad, and vice versa. I think the ultimate goal should be having a consistent pour sharp and good favour using the same bean @ same age.

Afterall, cup quality is king.
