a video is so much easier for them to help.
Crema of espresso is not necessarily needed in basic latte art, but it does add plenty of details of the art. and make the art much easier,,,
the main point is the streamed milk ,
From my point of view as a very beginner in both espresso and latte,
The secret to generate a good latte highly depends on the milk you "stretched or textured"
So, the main pt is how to create a nice "stretched and textured" milk,
which is THE ++++whirl++++ during the whole process!
if you can't make a whirl , you can;t mix the froth and milk together, therefore, large bubble, or a large area of "cream or froth" on the coffee since the froth is so light that it floats on the coffee.

When frothing, try to start with wand deep down, then *SLOWLY* lower the milk pitcher so the tip of wand slightly touches the surface of milk. you should be able to hear the noise of air introducing into milk. you want the steam wand only SLIGHTLY touches the surface of the milk, or you will end up with big bubbles.
you may use water with a couple drops of soap to practice frothing, because the soap water froths like milk!

actually money is an issue so that is why i chose to go the budget way at the beginning =)
i picked up my grinder today, and made myself a cup of latte, however, with the milk frothing part, i still cannot get it to become creamy enough before it reaches around 65 degrees, and when i pour it into the shot of coffee, it becomes more lika milk coffee
any tips? |
